Meet Our FOUNDERS
Our talented team comprises those dedicated in the Kansas City boxing space who want to make a difference
in today's youth.
Master Melvin Wesley
Master Melvin Wesley is a highly respected boxing coach, mentor, and former standout fighter. With an impressive amateur record of 127–7, he brings a rare combination of in-ring experience and elite coaching knowledge to every athlete he trains. Known for his sharp boxing IQ, disciplined training style, and unwavering passion for developing champions, Master Melvin has spent decades shaping not only skill, but character.
Born and raised in Kansas City, Melvin began boxing at age 5 under the mentorship of his older brother, Curtis Wesley. He later trained at Bell Recreation Center under Coach Leroy Green, where his drive and love for the sport helped lay the foundation for a long and successful amateur career.
After accomplishing so much as a fighter, Master Melvin chose to pour that experience back into the community. He dedicated himself to teaching the next generation of boxers in Kansas City and opened Pound 4 Pound Elite Boxing Academy in 2012. Through his leadership and mentorship, he has helped countless young athletes learn boxing fundamentals alongside discipline, confidence, respect, and perseverance—with his impact extending far beyond the ring.

Erin Taylor
In 2020, Erin found her gym community under the guidance of Coach Master Melvin Wesley, owner of Pound4Pound Elite Boxing Academy, a 501(c)(3) in Overland Park. It was here that her vision began to take shape: to help revitalize boxing as a sport—not only for the communities already proven to benefit from it, but for everyone to experience, appreciate, and enjoy.
Erin hopes to bring Kansas City’s many communities together through events that celebrate the city’s culture and honor the enduring legacy of boxing- a tradition that has long held an important place in Kansas City’s history. Erin will give many reasons for her love of the sport, but she most endearingly speaks of the tapestry of individuals and diverse communities boxing has introduced her to.
When she’s not in the gym, she’s managing Fortune Wok Asian & Sushi in Overland Park. A role that somehow still doesn’t seem to slow her down!
Growing up in Clinton, Missouri, Erin’s parents nurtured a passion for volunteering by donating their time to a variety of philanthropic projects.
